Betty J. Loyd, 77, Greensburg, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully left this life behind to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born August 10, 1935 in Rushville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Chester and Anna (Power) Harper. Betty was a 1953 graduate of Rushville High School. She moved to Greensburg and worked as a telephone operator for many years. She also had worked at the Clearing House and the IGA. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, a caring and nurturing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Betty was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and an active member of the St. Lawrence Auxiliary for 22 years. She was married to William Loyd on January 18, 1958 and he preceded her in death on September 15, 1999. She is survived by two sons, John (Synita) of Georgia and Doug (April) of Greensburg; two daughters, Susie of Greensburg and Mary of Greensburg; three sisters, Martha Stephen, Kokomo, Helen Narmore, Fountaintown, Violet Miller, Richmond; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; infant son, Jimmy; one brother and three sisters. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary service will be held on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Building Fund or to the OurHospice of South Central Indiana.
