Esther M. Chapman

Esther M. Chapman, 92, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Morning Breeze Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born May 12, 1921 in Knox County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Esther (Mabes) Kirchoff. She had worked at the Carol Cook and Garrett Garment Co. She also had worked for the Pinkerton Security Services. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. She was married to George W. Chapman on August 19, 1949 in Vincennes, Indiana and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1972. She is survived by one son, James A. Chapman, Greensburg; two daughters, Cecilia K. (A.G. "Budd") Mathews, Rushville, Brenda J. Vires, Greensburg; one sister, Nellie Sievers, New York; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, 5 step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Maryellen Chapman; one son-in-law, James Vires; one brother, Nelson Kirchoff; one great grandson, Kannon J. Vires. Visitation will be from 10-12:00 noon Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Howard Bullard officiating. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Alzheimer's Association.
