George Burkhart

Maurice George Burkhart, 69, Greensburg, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013 at his residence. Born, November 19, 1944 in Decatur County, Indiana, he was the son of David and Catherine (Artmeier) Burkhart. George graduated from Greensburg High School in 1962. He then went to work at James River Corp. for 31 years. He has also worked at the Knights of Columbus, Koch's, Watkins Products and he farmed. He played softball and basketball for local leagues. He enjoyed watching professional sporting events. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by one brother, Norman Burkhart, Greensburg; four sisters, Lucy (Norman) Myer, Batesville, Anna (Paul) Buening, Greensburg, Mary (Denny) Summers, Osgood, Dottie Burkhart, Osgood; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund or the Gibault School for Boys.
