Donald L. Howard

Donald L. "Donnie" Howard, 75, Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Morning Breeze in Greensburg. Born, December 1, 1938 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Loyd and Sally (Craig) Howard. Donnie worked at Levenstein's Carpets as a carpet estimator. He was a member of the Greensburg Country Club, the Optimist Club, the American Legion, the First Christian Church and was a past deacon of the First Baptist Church. Donnie enjoyed playing cards with his card group and playing golf. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He was married to Jane Ellen Smyser on September 26, 1965 and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Melissa (Gary) Jerkins, Snellville, GA, Meredith Mills, Indianapolis; one brother, Ronnie (Patty) Howard, Greensburg; four grandchildren, Mikaela Thurman, Sydney Jerkins, Peytan Mills, Oakley Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Howard; two sisters, Mayme Welch, Betty Jo Shafer. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Danny Wolford officiating. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of Southeastern Indiana.
