Gary Donald Springmeyer

Gary Donald Springmeyer, 55, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 in Greensburg. He was born to Don and Ruth Springmeyer on February 10, 1959. Gary attended, and graduated from Greensburg High School. Upon graduation, he worked for both Stewart Seeds and James Rivers in Greensburg. When Print Pack purchased the James Rivers Facility, Gary was asked to serve as one of the hazardous waste disposal managers, and he served with distinction for over 30 years until the facility closed. He then took a position at the Greensburg High School. He enjoyed spending time with his sons. Adam who took him flying over the city of Greensburg and Andrew took him on competitive fishing competitions. If he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His many hobbies included collecting antique farm equipment, farming toys, and fishing. He also enjoyed lying on a raft in the sun at his sister's pond. He was an active member with the Knights of St. John in Greensburg by parking cars during the Decatur County Fair. He is survived by his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Adam & Maureen of Granger, Indiana and Andrew of Batesville. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth (Lambert) Springmeyer of Greensburg; sisters and brother-in-laws, Linda (John) Meyer, Dorothy (Ken) Lecher, Regina Badgley, and Sharon (Greg) Siefert; 4 nieces, 4 nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Springmeyer. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary for family and friends will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Memorials may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
