Carroll Joe Friend, 65, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. Born on December 26, 1948 in Rush County, In, Joe was the son of Clarence L. and Joann (Bailey) Friend, Sr. Joe worked for Delta Faucet for over 30 years as a material handler, setup-man, and a group leader. He owned and drove the J.J. Ice Cream Truck around Greensburg for many years. Joe was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #36, where he was a past Master Mason. He was also GPE through the Indiana Grand Commandry York Rite. Joe was an avid goose hunter and he also loved the Indianapolis Colts. He married Wilma L. Hoffman on September 28, 1970 and she survives. Joe is also survived by 2 sons; Carroll Friend II, Greensburg, Tom (Cricket Hofacker) Friend, Greensburg, daughter; Winona “Ann”(George) Flannery, Connersville, 6 brothers; Albert L. (Delana) Friend, Greensburg, Robert L. (Betty) Friend, Sr., Westport, Jerry L. (Virginia) Friend, Sr., Milford, Kenneth W. (Audrey) Friend, Sr., Horace, Richard A. Friend, Milford, Brian K. Friend, Greensburg, sister; Donna M. (Eric) Hunter, Columbus, and 4 grandchildren; Daniel C. Bennett, Alvin Joe Flannery, Harley Alonzo Flannery, and Xander Cage Friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Clarence L. Friend, Jr, and granddaughter; Faith LaVerne Flannery. Visitation will be held at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 1-5:00 p.m. with a Masonic service following at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Keith Dover officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
