Lawrence E. Schroeder, 94, Greensburg, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born, August 21, 1919 in Decatur County, Indiana, he was the son of Edward H. and Josephine (Walters) Schroeder. Lawrence retired from the Ripley County Beverage Company in 1981. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church where he had served as an usher for over 50 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He drove a paper route for the Greensburg Daily for 55 years. He was married to Mildred C. (Butz) Offutt on September 6, 1944 and she preceded him in death on July 15, 1994. In 1997 he married Ruth M. Adams and she survives. He is also survived by one son, Ronald J. (Jenell) Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Ruth Offutt; three step sons, Bob (Jane) Adams, Jim Adams,, Tom Adams; three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Mildred; one step son, Kenneth Offutt. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or to the Alzheimer's Association.
