Dr. Gregorio R. Baluyot

Dr. Gregorio R. Baluyot, 77, Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at his residence. Born, May 9, 1937 in Mabatang, Abucay, Bataan, Philippines, he was the son of Maximo and Miguela (Ravago) Baluyot. Gregorio graduated in 1965 from the University of the East - Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines. He served his OB-Gyn residency in Rochester, NY from 1965-1971. He became board eligible in Obstetrics - Gynecology in 1972. He then worked at Halifax General Hospital in Daytona Beach, Fl., 1972, Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, 1972-73, St. Lukes Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY, 1973-75 and then came to Greensburg in 1976 as the first OB-GYN in private practice in the County and worked at the Decatur County Hospital in Greensburg and the Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He retired in 2002. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was married to Violeta Vigilia in Chicago, IL on October 14, 1967 and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Willard (Barbara) Baluyot, David (Tammy) Baluyot; one daughter, Michelle (Brad) Chadwell; ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Matilda. Private Services will be held for the family. Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of Southeastern Indiana.
