Ruth A. Gauck

Ruth A. Gauck, 91, Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. Born, November 22, 1917 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Altnau) Wenning.   Ruth graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1935.  She was a member of the St. Maurice Catholic Church, the PCCW, the Rural Couples and the Daughters of Isabelle. She was married to Richard G. Gauck on August 24, 1940 and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2005. She is survived by nine children, James (Carrie) Gauck, Excelsior Springs, MO, Carol (James) Shaver, New Palestine, Lois (Gary) Nobbe, Greensburg, Janet (Roger) Swain, Vincennes, Dale (Jennifer) Gauck, Greensburg, Patti Gauck, Greensburg, Kenny (Ellen) Gauck, Greensburg, Rick Gauck, Greensburg, Jane (Paul) Hammersmith, Greensburg; grandchildren, Jimmy Gauck, Julie Williams, Dan Shaver, Dana Culp, Susan Hutchins, Shelly Shaver, Michelle Brooks, Philip Elliott, Keith Nobbe, Byron Nobbe, Ryan Nobbe, Nathaniel Nobbe, Kurt Nobbe, Elizabeth Swain, Andrew Gauck, Joseph Gauck, Mathew Gauck, Kevin Westerfeld, Amber Hoff, Heather Westerfeld, Samantha Gauck, Hannah Gauck, Nicholas Gauck, Chris Gauck, Aaron Gauck,  Jill Hammersmith, John Hammersmith; 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one daughter, Phyllis Elliott; one grandchild, Krista Eldridge; two brothers, Leo & Ralph Wenning; one sister, Laura Schwering. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.   A rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the St. Maurice Catholic Church in St. Maurice with Rev. George Joseph officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in St. Maurice, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the St. Maurice Catholic Church or to the Decatur County Hospice.
