Clarence Linuel Friend, Jr.

Clarence Linuel Friend, Jr., 63, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. Born, July 1, 1946 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Clarence Linuel and Joann (Bailey) Friend, Sr. Jr. and Joyce started Rock Valley Stone in 1973. Over the last 37 years, Rock Valley Stone remained an honest, friendly, and family driven business. Jr. considered his customers friends and his employees families. While Jr. and Joyce only had five children, over the years they took on the responsibility of caring for grandchildren, family members, friends, and strangers who soon became family. Jr. will be remembered as a loving husband, a strong father, an honest friend, and most importantly, everyone’s Papa. He was married to Joyce Leann Jordan on June 20, 1964 and she survives. He is also survived by four children, William Linuel Friend I, Greensburg, Teresa Lynn (Jeffrey) Ketchum, Greensburg, Lonnie Lee (Melanie) Friend I, Shelbyville and Tim Lee (Wendy) Friend, Sr., Greensburg. He is the oldest of eight surviving siblings; Albert Lewis Friend, Greensburg, Carroll Joe (Wilma) Friend, Greensburg, Robert Lee (Betty) Friend, Sr., Greensburg, Jerry Lee (Virginia Ann) Friend, Sr., Greensburg, Donna Marie (Eric) Hunter, Columbus, Kenneth Wayne (Audrey) Friend, Sr., Greensburg, Richard Allen (Sherri) Friend, Hamilton, OH and Brian Keith Friend, Greensburg; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Charlotte Leann Friend. Visitation will be from 1-4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Keith Dover officiating. Interment will be held in the Sandcreek Cemetery in Greensburg. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
