Cynthia P. Scott

Cynthia P. Scott, 73, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026. She was born on September 19, 1953 in New Castle, Indiana to Elmer and Garnet Popejoy.

Cynthia graduated 10th in her class from Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School in 1971, and in 1975, she graduated from Saint Mary’s College with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught first through fifth grades a St. Mary’s Catholic School in Greensburg, Indiana for many years before relocating to St. Petersburg, Florida. She enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid reader, and was active in the Catholic Church for most of her life.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John R. Hinshaw, and her husband, Neil C. Scott. She is survived by her sister, Susan Corbin, brother, Daniel Popejoy and his wife Sandra, nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

A private burial was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg, Indiana. Cynthia will be remembered for the warmth and kindness she showed to those around her, and for the endless love she had for her family.
