James “Jamie” A. Alverson, 72, of Burney, Indiana, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis on April 10, 2026. He was born on August 24, 1953, in Greensburg, Indiana to the late Alvin E. and Jackie (Walton) Alverson.
Jamie is survived by his devoted daughter, Nicole "Nicci" Schlapp who was by his side when he passed; son, James Jr.; one brother, Terry (Cathy) Alverson of Greensburg; and grandchildren: Kayla Alverson, Jamavin Earles, and Michael Schlapp; great granddaughter, Cecilia Schlapp; niece, Beth Alverson; and nephew, Adrian (Jenny) Alverson; and several great nieces.
Jamie worked for Reliance Electric and Delta Faucet. Jamie along with Barb Alverson took the leap of opening a business. They opened Dundees in Columbus, a cowboy bar. They expanded their business in Edinburgh by opening the Outer Limits bar. Jamie really enjoyed his involvement with the community, meeting many great friends through the bar.
Jamie achieved his Eagle Scout in Troop 76 and was very active with the scouts and very supportive and involved with the troops at Camp Atterbury.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; grandparents: Alvin and Lena Alverson and James and Helen Walton.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm, at the funeral home, with Brother Jake Ross and Pastor Jimmy Miracle from Kingdom Ministry. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
