James Allen Stallsworth, 83, of Indianapolis, was born on November 25, 1942, in Wise County, Virginia, and went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2026, in Greensburg, Indiana.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army and worked as both a tree surgeon and a steelworker. He was a faithful member of Cornerstone House of Prayer in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and Beech Grove Wesleyan Church in Beech Grove, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nora (Hood) Stallsworth; his brothers, Harold and Marion Stallsworth; and his sisters, Helen Jarvis, Mary Jane Fig, Betty White, Linda Sizemore, and Brenda Stallsworth.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Nancy (Guerra) Stallsworth; his son, Vincent (Lori) Stallsworth; his daughter, Victoria (Jason) Cazimero; his grandchildren, Giovanny Morales and Gavin, Tristan, and Ian Stallsworth; his sister, Charlotte Scott; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A devoted Christian, loving family man, faithful friend, tireless worker, and true jack of all trades, Jim lived a life marked by service, generosity, and humility. His genuine love for God and others, his steadfast conviction to stand up for what was right, and his infectious sense of humor made the world a brighter place. Whether through a helping hand, a kind word, or a well-timed joke, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Family and friends are invited to join in the Sunday morning worship service at South Emerson Church of God, 3939 S. Emerson Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46203, on Sunday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m., during which thanks will be given to God for Jim's life and a memorial tribute will be shared. Pastor Dan Bailey will lead the worship service, and a reception will immediately follow.
For those unable to attend in person, the worship service will be livestreamed on the South Emerson Church of God Facebook page; it may also be accessed at tinyurl.com/jim1942 and will be available beginning shortly before the service.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Willows of Greensburg for the kindness and care they provided to Jim, to Pastor Dan Bailey and the congregation of South Emerson Church of God for graciously including the memorial service within their worship service and for their hospitality, to the Law Office of Jason Karmire for their guidance and support, and to Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home for their professionalism and assistance during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Jim's memory by making a donation to the church or charity of your choice or by extending a helping hand to someone in need.
