John William Zapfe, 70, of Greensburg, IN passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on August 9, 2026.
He was born on June 9, 1956, in Millhousen, IN to Howard J. and Betty L. (Simpson) Zapfe.
He enjoyed old cars, fishing, visiting St. John’s River, and telling stories to those close to him.
He was a self-employed carpenter of Zapfe Construction for 45 years.
John is survived by his 3 children: John W. Zapfe Jr., Melissa (Zapfe) Castillo, William J. “Joe” Zapfe; 3 sisters: Hazel Zapfe, Anita (Herb) Sexton, Rita (David) Bright; 1 brother, Daniel (Robin) Zapfe; special friend, Pam Lawhead; along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard J. and Betty L. (Simpson) Zapfe; 2 brothers: Darrell Zapfe, Gilbert “Butch” Zapfe; and one grandson, Hayden A. Zapfe.
Upon John’s wishes there will be no public viewing or funeral services. His wishes were to be cremated.
