Michael R. Filler

Michael R. Filler, 71, a native of Greensburg, Indiana, died on Saturday, September 6, 2025 in Meadow View Health & Rehabilitation in Salem, Indiana.

Mike graduated from Greensburg High School in the Class of 1972, and he was a 1981 graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Mike joined the US Army in 1977 and dedicated 14 years of military service in the signal corps and finance. Mike was stationed at 11 military bases during his time in the Army, including overseas posts at Camp Zama, Japan, Camp Casey in Dongducheon, South Korea, and Baumholder and Bad Kreuznach in Germany.

After military service, Mike worked at GECOM and Tops Hardware in Greensburg.

Throughout his life, Mike had a love for reading, writing and animals.

Mike was preceded in death by father and step-mother, Walter D. and Shirley Kay Filler of Greensburg; and his mother Ruth I. Haley of New Point, Ind.; and his brothers, Larry D. Filler and Garry Filler of Greensburg; and Kenneth Filler of Dundee, FL.

Mike has been a lifelong member of Welsh-Crawley-Kramer American Legion Post #129 and has been a past member of Sandusky Methodist Church.

The family will be holding private graveside services at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg.
