Michael "Mike" R. Linville

December 31, 1949 — March 20, 2026

Greensburg, Indiana

Michael “Mike” Rae Linville, 76, of Greensburg, passed away on March 20, 2026.

Born on December 31, 1949, in Greensburg, Indiana, Mike was the son of Richard Linville and Helen (Morford) Carel. He attended North Decatur High School and later proudly served his country in the United States Navy, spending his entire service aboard the aircraft carrier Constitution.

Throughout his life, Mike worked a variety of jobs, including several years at Valeo.

Music was one of Mike’s greatest joys. A talented drummer, he played in a band during his younger years, creating memories that he reminisced about often. His love for music stayed with him throughout his life—especially his devotion to the Beatles.

He also loved Disney, where the Tower of Terror was his all-time favorite ride, and he never failed to bring home the excitement of each visit. A dedicated sports enthusiast, Mike cheered passionately for IU, the Cincinnati Reds, the Indiana Pacers, and the Indianapolis Colts. And though he was an IU fan through and through, he remained a “closet Purdue fan” out of pride for his grandchild attending the university.

Family was the center of Mike’s world. He married the love of his life, Roxann (Robbins) Linville, in 1969, and together they shared decades of love, laughter, and stories. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his home was always brightened by his cherished fur babies, Georgie and ChaChi.

Mike is survived by his wife, Roxann Linville; daughter, Holly (Mark) Schoettmer; son, Tim Linville; step-son, Andy Robbins; grandchildren, Amanda (Brock) Owens and Sarah Schoettmer; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Georgie and ChaChi.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Carolyn Linville, Richard K. Linville, Diana K. Seal, Larry E. Linville Sr., and Sharon Davis.

Per Mike’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter, a cause close to his heart.
