Oren "Donn" Carter

Oren “Donn” Carter was born in Indianapolis, IN on April 10, 1941. Donn passed in his sleep at The Waters in Greencastle, IN on July 25, 2026. Donn was a graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School on the east side of Indianapolis. He was an Air Force veteran based at McCoy Air Force base from 1962-1966. After his service he was a proud tech rep for Allison Gas Turbines. After his stint with Gas Turbines he had short stints with Allision Transmissions. The majority of his working career was with Detroit Diesel Allison/Corp. He spent over 50 years as a diesel tech rep working with Swift, Wal-Mart, and his proudest account Ryder. He and his wife Jo Anne Carter (Michaelis) were proud supporters of the South Putnam School Corporation. Dedicating over 10 years to running the youth football program. Donn was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Carter (Donnell), his father Oren Carter, and his sister Rebecca Jennings (Carter). He is survived by his amazing wife of 56 years Jo Anne, his two sons Todd and Casey, his granddaughters Alina and Aviana, and his loving sister Marcia Nonweiler (Carter). Donn will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Kingston Cemetery next to his uncle Richard Donnell.
